Background and Experience

Mikie Sherrill is a Naval Academy graduate, former Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor, and current U.S. Congresswoman running for Governor of New Jersey. She served nearly a decade on active duty, leading missions across Europe and the Middle East, working on nuclear treaty enforcement, and serving as a Russian policy officer. After earning law and graduate degrees, she returned home to serve in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, focusing on gun violence and reentry programs. Elected to Congress in 2018 in a major red-to-blue flip, she has championed infrastructure, affordability, and women’s rights, securing major federal investments for projects like the Gateway Tunnel. Named New Jersey’s most effective House lawmaker in 2023, Sherrill blends military discipline, legal experience, and bipartisan results with a sharp focus on making life more affordable for New Jersey families.
